Zinc Pyrithione is a highly effective antimicrobial and preservative that acts against yeast, moulds, bacteria and algae, etc.

One of the very common uses are in treating dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis, especially in anti-dandruff shampoos. It also has antibacterial properties and is effective against many pathogens from the Streptococcus and Staphylococcus genera.

In industrial applications, Zinc Pyrithione can protect coatings against mould and algae growth in both indoor and outdoor applications. The bactericidal activity of Zinc Pyrithione will redundant or reduce the standard in can preservatives.

Zinc Pyrithione is often supplied in 48% aqueous dispersion for easier handling purpose.
